Superhero Boostcamp

So I have been pretty busy with personal development, setting goals and my superpowers. Last Saturday I attended the Superhero Boostcamp in Leiden. Several speakers shared their personal stories about their journey and following their inner voice. It was really inspiring!

I joined two workshops during the day. The first one, superwoman, focused on the questions:

  • Who am I?
  • What is my ‘power’?
  • What do I want?

It’s always hard to think about those things but that’s a good thing. It makes you realize what exactly makes you YOU!

The second workshop, superman, was build around the Business Model You. Step by step you think about where you are now, where you want to go and what steps you have to take to get there. Again, very interesting to see the bigger picture!

So I wrote down all I know about me, what I love to do and where I want to go…I’m ready for the next step!

Hema blog academy event & goodiebag fun

Wednesday was all about goodies! It all started in the afternoon. I attended the Hema blog academy event at the HQ of Hema in Amsterdam. I enjoyed my short trip to Amsterdam…really miss that city sometimes.

The event organized by Hema was meant to inform 1000 bloggers about their chance to blog for and about Hema…for free! The pro’s for us as ‘future’ Hema bloggers…that didn’t become really clear during the afternoon. Except for discount, the privileges when you achieve to become part of the professional Hema bloggers and the huge amount of readers they say they have each month.

But before that will happen, you have to survive a screening by the professional team who is going to review all our blogs before they, and if they think it’s appropriate for Hema, decide to publish it! They do give feedback and training, but I guess that will be to adjust our writing style to that of Hema.

I still don’t know what to do. I think they should have thought a little longer about who to invite and the program of this event. There were a lot of experienced bloggers in the audience and the speakers on behalf of the Hema weren’t that professional in answering some basic questions about blogging! But it was fun to see what the headquarters of Hema looks like. And we got some scoops! And most of all, we got a goodiebag filled with Hema stuff 😀

After the blog event I had to rush back to The Hague to be present for the only display of the movie ‘De Overgave’. Den Haag FM made it possible so I got free tickets. Afterwards there was a Q&A with the director and the main character. It was nice that I had to chance to see the movie and have my own opinion about it, but for most of the people it was a bit of a disappointment. At least I got a goodiebag out of it!

Entertainment journalist on the radio

Although I left the radio program ‘Nieuwslicht’ on Den Haag FM, I didn’t stop trying new things for the station. The last few weeks I co-hosted Haagse Avondradio on Sunday nights from 18-21 PM. The show consists of a variety of elements, like ‘today in history’ (what happened on this particular date back in history), news from The Hague, remarkable news, showbizz news and of course a lot of music.

The program is more open to improvisation than ‘Nieuwslicht’ and is completely different in focus. That’s why I can use my knowledge about music, entertainment and artists.

I heard my own voice back for the first time this week. The station manager already told me that I have a great voice for radio but I still had to listen to it myself. At first it was really weird to hear my own voice on audio because it’s quiet different from what I hear myself. But once I got comfortable with it I think it sounded pretty cool! Plus it’s a good way to improve myself. I know some things I have to do better and have to work on that but at least now I know!

You can listen to a short fragment from the show below. I talked about Miley Cyrus, her image, collaborations and her concert at the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam.

Keep on trying

“You have to keep on trying, do not give up.” That goes for all aspects of my life at this moment. I have to admit; it is really hard to stay motivated sometimes. But I’m not planning on giving up.

I left the radio program on Den Haag FM. It wasn’t really my cup of tea and I didn’t feel at ease about the subjects we talked about. So now I’m trying out different things at the station to see what suits me best.

And of course I’m still looking for a job. Each time I become unemployed, I have to go back to my core and think about what I want. So that’s what I’m doing these days.

Under the radar

Realised that it has been a while that I wrote something…I’m pretty busy lately. Working full-time, the ever ongoing job search and voluntary work. I have hardly time to rest, but I see the time I spend on all these things as an investment for my future!

I visited the exposition ‘S.H.O.E.S.: about high heels and true love’ about shoes 3 weeks ago in Rotterdam and wrote a report about it for model profile. You can read the report IMG_1026here. I would like to do this more often. Just being on the road, visiting expositions, events, presentations or concerts and write about it. I love to make pictures to complete the story as well.

But I’m also busy under the radar. Still can’t tell too much about it…what I can tell is that Den Haag FM is part of my agenda 😉

And of course, I turned 31! Not unimportant…I had a blast celebrating my birthday with my friends!
